Beringia

An online magazine about the ties between two countries

There has always been a bridge between the two shores

Fifteen thousand years ago people crossed here on dry land. Then the land went under water, and the connection was carried on by ships, the telegraph, the radio and orbital stations. Six stories about it, in two languages at once.

About the project

Beringia is an independent, non-commercial magazine. It is named after the land that connected two continents fifteen thousand years ago. We write about what happened between two cultures when they met: on a deck, in a concert hall, in a laboratory and in orbit. We care not about declarations but about details: which planks were bent, which words were spoken, which blueprints travelled in suitcases.
